Holy Haridwar with Rishikesh Tour Details

Arrive at New Delhi IGI airport. You will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel.

The capital city bridges two different worlds - Old and New Delhi. Old Delhi is a labyrinth of narrow lanes lined with havelis and formidable forts and mosques. In contrast, New Delhi, a legacy of the British Raj comprises spacious, tree-lined avenues and imposing government buildings. Depending on when you arrive you can plan to explore the city on your own. Overnight in Delhi.

In the morning, we explore Old and New Delhi both. Visit the Red Fort or Lal Quila built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the mid 17th century, when he shifted his capital from Agra to Shahjahanabad. Not far from the fort, is the Jama Masjid - Shah Jahan's final architectural extravaganza and one of the largest mosques in India. We explore one of Old Delhi's most eye-catching sights, the Chandni Chowk, a colorful market in the city.

We then drive down to New Delhi down to Rajpath, the capital's broadest avenue, for a view of Parliament House, the President's House and the India Gate. Pushing further south, we visit Humayun's Tomb, which inspired the Taj Mahal and the 72.5 meters high Qutub Minar, one of the tallest structures in the world, when it was built in A.D. 1199. Also included in the tour are the Lotus Temple and the Rajghat- the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. Rest of the day is for leisure. Stay overnight in Delhi.

This morning, take a transfer to the railway station to board the high speed train Shatabdi Express towards Haridwar. Arrive at Haridwar, get transferred to the hotel. Visit different temples including Mansa Devi Temple, Pareshwar Mahadev Temple, Daksha Mahadev Temple.

Visit Har-ki-Pauri(the Footstep of God), one of the most sacred Ghats in India. People say that this Ghat was built by King Vikramaditya in memory of his brother Bhartrihari. This Ghat is also known as Brahmakund. Later, witness the Aarti of the Holy River Ganga.

Aarti is a beautiful ceremony, in which Diyas (the oil lamps) are offered to God. Aarti can be performed for a Deity in the temple or it can be chanted for a saint. It is performed for God, in any manifestation, any form, by any name. The essence of the Aarti is that, it is a way of offering thanks, love, devotion and worship by the medium of the Diya. We realize that the small Diya is nothing compared to the Divine Light, which shines on us all day. Overnight is in Haridwar

Drive to Rishikesh. It is believed that God by the name of 'Hrishikesh' had appeared as an answer to the hard penances by Rabhiya Rishi and thereafter the place derived its name. It is the starting point for the Char Dham pilgrims and also for the people who are interested in meditation, yoga and other aspects of Hinduism. In Rishikesh, visit Laxman Jhula- a hanging bridge on the River Ganga, one of the most famous spots in Rishikesh.

According to Indian mythology, Laxman, the younger brother of Lord Rama crossed the Ganga with the help of the hanging bridge made of Jute. The bridge offers a scenic view of the River Ganga as it tumbles down to Haridwar. Also visit Bharat Mandir - the oldest temple in Rishikesh, near the Triveni Ghat. This temple is dedicated to Bharat, the younger brother of Lord Ram. Optional activities include White Water Rafting. Overnight is at Rishikesh.

This morning, drive to Haridwar railway station to board the train back to Delhi.
